THE DINE BACK BETTER PLEDGE

The restaurant industry is going through massive upheaval. For the first time since Emancipation, millions of workers are refusing to work for poverty wages; tipped workers in particular are refusing to work for the subminimum wage for tipped workers – a direct legacy of slavery that has been a source of poverty and sexual harassment for a workforce that is overwhelmingly women and disproportionately women of color.

In response, thousands of restaurants across the country are raising wages and increasing equity in order to recruit staff. More and more restaurant owners are paying One Fair Wage – a full minimum wage with tips on top – and thereby creating more sustainable, equitable environments for their employees. More and more restaurant owners are joining forces with workers to call for One Fair Wage policy that would create a level playing field and signal to millions of workers that it is worth coming back t work for restaurants. More and more restaurant owners are saying that this is the only pathway forward for our industry.

Consumers can support this huge, important and historic trend by pledging to support restaurants now paying One Fair Wage and/or participating in RAISE High Road Restaurants, a national association of restaurants advocating for One Fair Wage as policy. We ask that you consider these restaurants when deciding where to dine and/or for all catering needs. Please sign the pledge today!
